Age 79, a native of New Orleans and longtime resident of Independence, La. George was born on January 1, 1935 and passed away on February 4, 2014. He retired from the Kenner Fire Department after twenty years of service, where he was a fireman and truck operator. He was a longtime drag racing enthusiast and also enjoyed attending car shows. George is survived by his sons, David, Sr. and wife Kerri, Michael and wife Patricia, Adam and wife Mitra Schilling; daughters, Connie Schilling, Emily Chaudoir; grandchildren, David, Jr., Stephanie, Joshua, Matthew, Blake, Blayne, Blaize Schilling, Suzanne Vamora, Christopher Veade, Jennifer Indovinna, Aaron, Caleb, Jessica Bauer; great-grandchildren, Forrestar, Elizabeth, Korey, Mikal, Ian, Sofia, Sarah, Samantha, Nicholas, Caelyn, Lillian, Austin, Aiden, Julianna, Joseph, Lauren, Owen, Henry and a great-granddaughter Melody whom was born the day George was called home; sisters, Kathy Bourgeios Padron, Linda Newberry, Sandra Militello and best friend Shelton Mulkey. George is preceded in death by his mother, Paulette Muse; father, George A. Schilling, former spouse Jean Albers Lee; granddaughter; Nicole Veade; sister, Gayle Bourgeios Pritchett and cousin, Michael Ruf. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, west of Hammond, on Sunday, February 9, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Monday, February 10, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until the memorial services at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery in Covington.
