Acosta, Gilbert Joseph "Gil" A beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, he died at 9:45 a.m. on Friday, July 15, 2005, in Baton Rouge. He was a retired auto mechanic and a resident of St. Amant. He was 70, a U.S. Army specialist fourth class for two years and a native of Sorrento. Visiting at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Amant, on Monday, July 18, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Vic Panaligan. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeanette Breaux Acosta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Tony Cliburn, Prairieville, and Vickie and Coy Daigle, Gonzales; four grandchildren, Sheri Daigle, Houston, Starlet Daigle and husband Brad Girouard, Gonzales, Matthew and Michael Cliburn, both of Prairieville; a great-grandson, Collin Michael Girouard; two brothers, Haines Acosta, French Settlement, and Murphy Acosta, Head of Island; and a sister, Loretta Acosta McGinnis, St. Amant. He was preceded in death by his father, Wilfred Acosta; mother, Lillian Villenurve; two brothers, Wilbert and Noea Acosta; and a sister, Lorita Acosta Lee. He enjoyed fishing with his wife, brothers and his dog, Pepper. He enjoyed life to the fullest. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Jeanette Acosta for medical expenses. Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, is in charge of arrangements.
