A native of West Baton Rouge Parish, he died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, at his home in Port Allen. He was 70 and a U.S. Navy veteran. Visiting at Grant's Westside Funeral Services, 1151 Louisiana, Port Allen, on Thursday, Dec. 20, from noon to 6 p.m. and religious service on Friday at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Johnny Griffin. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by his former wife, Doris Lawson, of Port Allen; five daughters, Lisa, Carmen and Bridget Lawson and Aleshia Murphy and husband Richard, all of Port Allen, and Felicia Kitchings and husband John, of North Augustus, S.C.; seven sons, Herbert III, Kevin, Gerald and Byron Lawson, all of Port Allen, Jacques and Eddie Snearl, both of Port Allen, and Glenn Price, of Las Vegas; 21 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and grandparents.
