""He did it his way."" Born April 23, 1941 in Morris, Illinois, he died Friday, December 7, 2012. He was 71, a native of Baton Rouge, and a resident of Brownsfield since 1949. Visiting at Baker Funeral Home, 6401 Groom Road, Baker on Monday, December 10, 2012 from 5 to 9 p.m., and on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 from 9 a.m. until religious services in the chapel at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. Huey Moak and Rev. Mike Morris. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker. Survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Willie and Patsy Parker, nephew Lindsey Parker and niece Alisha Parker all of Brownsfield; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Betty Ann and Jesse Eaves; nephew Jim Eaves and wife Vickie; niece Valarie Langley and fiancé Jason Baker; niece Lara Hutchinson and husband Brian; the beloved ""6-pack"", Sara Pierson, Seth Langley, Ashleigh Eaves, Gabrielle Eaves, Courtney Hutchinson and Josh Hutchinson, all of Denham Springs; and nephews, Jason Paul Baker, Jr. and Jon Baker, both of Denham Springs. He was preceded in death by his wife of 32 years, Jean Rushing Parker; mother, Ruth Finch Parker Keefer; and father, Alton B. ""Jack"" Parker. Pallbearers will be Lindsey Parker, Jim Eaves, Brian Hutchinson, Tom Goebel, Seth Langley and Jason Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be J. D. Evans, Billy Bingham and Scotty Eaves. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Herman was also a retired Louisiana State Trooper and a member of the Louisiana State Troopers' Association. He was a Past President and Chief of the Brownsfield Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the State Fireman's Association. He was a member and Past President of the Brownsfield Lion's Club. He had been a self-employed ""wheeler and dealer"" since retirement. A graduate of Baker High School, he attended Southeastern Louisiana College, was a staffer at Ridgecrest Baptist Assembly, a former employee of the Department of Highways, and a member of Foster Road Baptist Church.
