Jeanette Barnett "Jan" Hoke

Jeanette (Jan) Barnett Hoke, 63, of Asheville, NC, passed away on June 18, 2014 after fighting a long battle with a rare neurodegenerative brain disease called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). She passed away peacefully at her home under the care of her husband who has been her sole caregiver for 6 years. Jan was born in Batesville, AR on October 31, 1950. She lived in Baton Rouge from 1970 until 1989. She worked at Tara High School for 11 years. In 1989, she moved to Asheville, NC where she and her husband, Forney Moore Hoke III, resided for over 20 years. Jan was a very vibrant lady with a big personality. She was extremely social and was always looking to have fun no matter where she went. She had a love for fitness and exercised every day until she became ill. Jan is survived by her husband of 20 years, Forney Moore Hoke III; daughter, Beth Haynes and fiancé Tom Kiebach, of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Nicole Haynes Lundy and husband Scott, two grand-children, Garrett and Kate, all from Dayton, OH; sister, Jill McClure and husband Patrick of Wimberley, TX; brother, Danny Headstream and wife, Anita of Eatonton, GA; two nephews Rob and Britt Headstream of Conyers, GA, and brother-in-law, J. Frank Hoke and wife Hui, three nieces, Hanna, Cheyne, and Emma, all from Raleigh, NC. Immediate family will be holding a private service at Lytle United Methodist Church, located at 8464 Lytle Ferry Road, in Waynesville, OH on June 22, 2014. A celebration of life service will be held for Jan at a later date in Destin, FL. The family would like to express their gratitude towards Forney for providing great care to Jan during her illness.
