A native and resident of Erwinville, he passed away at 10:01 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was a retired BASF Corporation Chemical Plant Operator and an Army Veteran who received the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal. Visiting at Wesley United Methodist Church, 544 Government Street Baton Rouge, on Tuesday, March 5 from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by Reverend Dr. Joe Connelly of Wesley United Methodist Church & Reverend Inita Smith of Scott Chapel United Methodist Church & Beech Grove United Methodist Church. Interment at Port Hudson National Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Lana Parham Lathan; son, Anthony James Lathan; sisters, Alice Lathan and Odeal Lathan Christopher; brother, Henry Lathan; and grand children, Mya Lanette Lathan and Lea Corrine Lathan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Abram and Odeal Lathan; daughter, Jennifer Caren Lathan; four brothers, Foster Lathan, Abram Lathan Jr., Freddie Lathan and Robert Lathan. He was a loving husband, father, uncle, and brother who adored his family. He will be greatly missed.
