Alford, Joseph Douglas "J.D." A retired industrial insulator and member of Local 53, he died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at his home in Port Allen. He was 70, a native of Port Allen and a U.S. Army veteran. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen, on Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visiting at Holy Family Catholic Church, Port Allen, on Wednesday from 8 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Henry Vavasseur, celebrant. Interment in Erwinville Cemetery. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Mary Kay Hedges Alford; two daughters, Maureen and Morgan Alford; and three brothers, Ivy Jr., Willie and Terry Alford. Preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Short Alford; mother, Mary Alice St. Romain Alford; father, Ivy Alford Sr.; and sister, Doris May Alford. Pallbearers will be Ivy Alford Jr., Willie Alford, Terry Alford, Ellis Gauthier, J.C. Kent, Jay Rumfola, Jason Alford and Chucky LeJeune. Honorary pallbearers are Clay Weber and Rogge Alexander.
