Joyce L. Jolissaint, a resident of Ollie Steele Burden Manor and a native of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013 at the age of 92. She was born in Houston, TX on May 13, 1920. Joyce was a 1937 graduate of St. Joseph's Academy where she was a star basketball player. Her love for sports influenced her decision to be a PE major at LSU, where she graduated in 1941. She spent 28 years with her Air Force husband, John, traveling the world and raising children wherever John was assigned. Upon his retirement, they returned to Baton Rouge where she quickly immersed herself in bridge, Bal Masque, and any other dancing venue they could find. Joyce and John were life-long LSU sports supporters. Her compassion and strong sense of care-giving endeared her to many for the wonderful meals she prepared and delivered, and the hours she spent sitting with and caring for sick friends and relatives. She was a longtime member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, and a committed adorer in the Adoration Chapel. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 69 years, John M. Jolissaint, Sr.; her parents, Sidney J. Lacy, Sr. and Myrtle Doiron Lacy; two brothers, Sidney Lacy Jr., and Thomas Harold Lacy; two sisters, Theresa Lacy Hendershot and Beverly Marie Lacy. (Jack) Jolissaint and wife Anne Marie of Baton Rouge, Dr. Stephen L. Jolissaint and wife Kamille of Colleyville, TX, and Dr. James (Greg) Jolissaint and wife Debby of Woodstock, MD. In addition, she is survived by 16 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
