Lucille W. "Cille" Stevens, 98, joined her beloved husband of 57 years on Monday, January 28, 2013. A graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University, earning her BA and M Ed, Cille taught for over 37 years in the Natalbany and Springfield schools. She had a zest for life that made her a wonderful kindergarten and first grade teacher, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. A longtime resident of the Hammond-Springfield area, Cille will be remembered as an enthusiastic member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Louisiana in Hammond, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Livingston Parish Homemakers Association, as a consistent volunteer for the Special Olympics, as well as an active member in her Sunday school classes. She was a current member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Albany. Cille is locally known for her 2010 publication "Wonderful Memories of Natalbany." Cille was blessed with three sons and daughters-in-law, Clyde and Cathy Stevens of Tickfaw, Drew and Peggy Stevens of Franklinton, and Ray and Laurie Stevens of Ponchatoula. Her zest for life will continue to live on through her eleven grandchildren and her sixteen great-grandchildren. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well. Cille has been preceded in death by her husband H. Clyde Stevens, Sr.; parents Fred Alonzo and Margaret "Maggie" Wall; one sister, Edith Rogers; and four brothers, Ernest Wall, Hugh Wall, Woodrow Wall, and Darrell Wall. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service from the chapel of Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home of Hammond on Friday, February 1, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Thursday, January 31, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with an Order of Eastern Star service at 7:00 p.m. and again on Friday from 8:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:00 a.m. The services will be officiated by Bro. Joe Dunn. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery in Hammond. Condolences and other information are available online at www.thompsoncares.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brandon G.
