Lula Mae "Mame" Lipscomb

Lula Mae "Mame" Lipscomb, 80, departed this life Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at her home in Baton Rouge. She was retired from Kean's Cleaners. She was an extraordinary mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. Survived by her six daughters, Lilly Smart, Joyce and spouse Stevie Richardson, all of Georgia, Barbara Lipscomb, Yvette Thomas, Cassandra Thomas, Debra and spouse Gregory Hills, all of Baton Rouge; two sons, Allen Thomas, of Baton Rouge, and Gregory and spouse Lillian Thomas, of Brusly; sister, Mable Domino; brother, Robert Jr. and spouse Doris Williams; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. Preceded in death by her husband, Frank Lipscomb Sr.; son, Frank Lipscomb Jr.; parents, Lillie V. Monroe and Robert Johnson; two sisters, Florence Cook and Sadie Bennett; and four grandchildren, Derrick Smart, Marcus Thomas, Chiquita Williams and John Bryant Jr. Visiting at Wilson-Wooddale Funeral Home, 1553 Wooddale Blvd., Saturday, Sept. 4, from 9 a.m. until service at 11 a.m., conducted by Dr. Carla Gaines. Interment in Port Hudson National Cemetery, 20978 Port Hickey Road, Zachary, Tuesday, Sept. 7, at 11 a.m. We would like to acknowledge and give special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice staff and a devoted great-granddaughter, Carl'neisha Lipscomb.
