ALLEMOND, MORRIS "MEAUX" A retired employee of the U.S. Postal Service with 28 years of service and a resident of Plaquemine, he died at 6:05 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2005, at Plaquemine Caring Nursing Home. He was 86 and a native of Port Allen. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visiting was at Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4. Visiting at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5. Religious service at Holy Family Catholic Church, Port Allen, at 10 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Henry Vavasseur. Interment in Grace Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Ann Bezette; a daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Dean Ackerman, Port Allen; a son, David Allemond, Prairieville; Diana LeMay Andre, whom he raised as a daughter, and her husband, Roger, Erwinville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Matilda Allemond; a brother, A.W. "Blackie" Allemond; a sister, Marie Witt; niece, Phyllis Allemond Wilbert; and great-niece, Daphne Wilbert. He loved to hunt, fish and watch LSU baseball. He also enjoyed playing the guitar with friends.
