Phyllis Schrimpf Spillman, 93, a longtime resident of Zachary, LA died on Sunday, November 3, 2013. Visitation will be at Charlet Funeral Home, Inc. in Zachary, LA on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 from 5pm until 8pm and then on Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 9am until funeral services at 10am, conducted by Rev. Bob Wojohn. She is survived by one daughter, Roberta Spillman Adams and her husband Donnie of Spillman, LA; two sons: Glen A. Spillman of Baker; James Robert Spillman and his wife Glenda Gail of Zachary; one sister, Ruth Auldridge of Colorado Springs, CO; two grandchildren: Nick Adams and Ash Adams; two great-grandchildren: Harper Adams and Ellie Adams. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Spillman Jr.; parents Andrew and Thelma Schrimpf; and one brother, John Schrimpf. Pallbearers will be Glen A. Spillman, James Spillman, Donnie Adams, Nick Adams, Wilmer Mills, and Mart Morris. She was a member of the Plains Presbyterian Church, where she was always active in Christian Service. She will be remembered as a writer, and for her column "Gleanings" which ran in the Plainsman Newspaper.
