A native and resident of Baton Rouge, he died Oct. 29, 2012 at the Baton Rouge General Butterfly Wing. He was 82, a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired employee of the East Baton Rouge School System and Southern University Security Department. Visitation at Carney-Mackey Funeral Home, 1576 Robin St., on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Service at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012 at New Light Missionary Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Gil Wright. Interment at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at Louisiana National Cemetery, 303 W. Mount Pleasant Rd., Zachary, La. Survivors include his daughters, Linda Saunders, Lisa Davis (Jimmy) and Marilyn Dillon (Julious); son, Ted Evans (Janet); and brother, John Evans.
