Funeral services will be held on Monday, November, 26, 2012, at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette, for Warren Lawrence Butcher, 92, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 22, 2012 in Baton Rouge, LA. Reverend Miles Walsh, Pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Church in Baton Rouge, will be the celebrant of the Funeral Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Reverend Cleo Milano, Pastor of St. John the Evangelist Church in Plaquemine, will con-celebrate. Born December 21, 1919 in Lafayette, LA, Warren was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Verna Leblanc Butcher; his father, Lawrence Butcher; mother, Belle Hotard Butcher; and brother, Matt Butcher. He is survived by his daughter, Carol B. Dazzio and son-in-law Pete Dazzio of Baton Rouge, LA; five grandchildren, Noelle Dazzio of Baton Rouge, LA; Christy D. Miller (Chris) of Mobile, AL and their children, John Paul, Pearce, Luke and Mary Claire Miller; Tommy Dazzio (Martha) of Birmingham, AL and their children, George, Frances, Maggie, Pete and Katy Dazzio; Warren Dazzio (Alison) and their children, Anna Katherine, Elizabeth and Caroline Dazzio; Leigh D. Holder (George) and their children, Jennie Belle, Louis, Elise, Madeline, Jack and Charlie Holder, all of Baton Rouge, LA. The co-founder of Butcher Air Conditioning Company with brothers Matt and Tom Butcher, Warren was active in the business until his retirement in 1975. A graduate of Cathedral High School and SLI (now ULL), he was involved in a number of local enterprises. He served on the Board of Trustees of Lafayette General Hospital, Oakbourne Country Club and First National Bank of Lafayette. Mr. Butcher was a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theatre. He was a bombardier on B-26's, flew 63 missions and attained the rank of Captain. Among his awards are the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with ten clusters. He was also awarded the French Legion of Honor Medal in 2011 for his service. Visitation will be held at Martin & Castille's DOWNTOWN Lafayette location on Monday, November 26, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Tommy Dazzio, Warren Dazzio, Chris Miller, George Holder, Bobby Butcher and Johnny Butcher.
