Leonce Charles "Ducy" Bourque

Ducy Bourque, a native of Gonzales and a longtime resident of Zachary, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011, at the age of 87. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, as well as a respected friend. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Egan Bourque; son, Ronald Charles Bourque and wife Dianne; daughter, Marsha B. Williams and husband Alan; grandchildren, Michelle B. Hedges and husband Michael, Nicole C. Bourque and Matthew R. Bourque; great-grandchildren, Collin Michael Hedges, Jacob Charles Hedges and Adeline Grace Hedges; and brother, Samuel J. Bourque Jr.; and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, Samuel J. Bourque and Cornelia Daigle Bourque; sisters, Zorrine B. Crifasi and Hazel B. Vaccaro; and brothers, Clyde "Buddy" Bourque and Ellis Bourque. Ducy served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II and received the Purple Heart Medal. He retired from the Exxon Refinery with 36 years of service and was a 50-year Master Mason and a proud member of Plains Lodge 135, F&AM. He was a deacon emeritus at Plains Presbyterian Church. He loved hunting, golf and any family event. Because of his generous nature and ample mechanical skills, he was known as "Mr. Fixer" to anyone in need. Visitation at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, on Friday, July 15, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. Masonic service. Visiting at Plains Presbyterian Church, Zachary, on Saturday, July 16, from 8:30 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Bob Wojohn. Burial in Plains Presbyterian Memorial Gardens, Zachary.
