David Neilson Crawford, born Feb 24, 1954 in New Orleans LA. Beloved Son of the late Mireille Voorhies Crawford Martin and William Lawrence Crawford and his beloved late stepfather Joseph A. Martin. David is survived by his wife Desiree "Dez" Crawford and her mother Clare Rabeneck, and two brothers, John Alan Crawford of Alexandria VA and Robert V. Crawford of Metairie LA. He is also survived by his nephews Robert J. Crawford and Stephen C. Crawford and a niece Laura C. Lanier. David graduated Benjamin Franklin High School in New Orleans and received his Bachelors degree and Law degree from LSU in Baton Rouge. David was passionate about life; his great loves were animals, music and history. David was deeply involved in his community as an attorney, and was instrumental in establishing progressive new social programs. He is the founder of the landmark Spanish Moon live music club, former owner of the iconic Bayou Lounge and an avid supporter of live music and Louisiana music. In college he took pride in expanding the KLSU radio station for Louisiana State University. He will be remembered as adventurous, kind and generous. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Project Purr of Baton Rouge, The Baton Rouge Food Bank, The New Orleans Musicians Clinic. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, Government St., Friday, February 28, 2014, 11:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life service at 1:00 p.m. "In the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."
