Mr. Handy passed away at 10 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2014, in his residence. He was a 90-year-old veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a retired packaging operator with U.S. Steel/Uni-Royal. Services will be held at Mt. Zion Baptist Church #2 at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014, with visiting from 5 p.m. Interment will be in Grace Memorial Cemetery in Plaquemine. Survivors include daughters Dr. Kathleen M. Handy, Sherlin K. Watson (Donald) and Jennifer Handy Bennett (Edward); sons Charley Handy III, Carlton R. Handy, Albert C. Handy (Desire) and Alexis J. Handy Jr. (Terry); brother, August Handy (Barbara); grandchildren, Carvin R. Handy, Donald "DJ" Watson, Charley Handy IV, Ashley H. Oliver (Kevin), Alexis J. Handy (Derbigny), Devin R. Watson, Kolby Q. Handy, Rubea A. Handy, Lamarglo Sims and Abram Carlin; and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ann Buggs and Charley Handy Sr.; his loving wife, Pauline Y. Handy; sister Willie M.
