A beautiful life of service came to an end on Monday, March 10, 2014 as Frances Dean Reid Bartee entered into eternal life. Fran's dedication to service started with her children as she served as a Girl Scout and Youth Group leader. She went on to serve her community while being involved with The Pointe Coupee Chamber of Commerce, The Pointe Coupee Tourism Board, New Roads Team City, The Main Street Program, Keep New Roads Beautiful , and the USDA Rural Conservation and Development Board. She was active with the , chairing the Antique Show and inaugural in Pointe Coupee Parish. She was an active member of St. Mary of False River Catholic Church, having served on the Liturgy Committee, as a Wedding Coordinator and Eucharistic Minister. A native of Tuscaloosa, AL, She is survived by her husband of 53 years, George H. Bartee, daughters and sons in law, Monica and Rick Walton of Oscar, LA, Alison and Jeff Andre of Chapel Hill, NC and son and daughter in law, John and Kerri Bartee of Dayton, Tx. and a sister, Betsy Zurkowski of Arkansas. The joys of her life were her grandchildren, Michael and wife Julie, Phillip and Katie Cilano, John Michael and Cade Bartee and Sean and Emily Andre. Those going before her were her parents, Samuel T. and Helon Shirley, son in law, Charles "Chuck" Cilano, and brother, Jerry Reid. Visitation will be held at Niland's Funeral Home in New Roads on Wednesday March 12, 2014 from 5 pm until 9 pm and on Thursday March 13, 2014 from 8 am until 9:45 am. Mass of Christian Funeral will be at 10 am at St. Mary of False River Catholic Church in New Roads. Conducted by Rev. Msgr. Robert Berggreen. Visitation will also be held at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on Saturday March 15, 2014 from 10 am until Religious Service in the funeral home parlor at 2:00 pm. with interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Tuscaloosa, AL. Memorial donations may be made to 250 Williams St. NW, Atlanta, Georgia 30303-1002 or Duke Cancer Institute, Office of Development, DUMC 3828, Durham, N.C. 27710.
