Curtis Jay "Curt" Simmons

Obituary Condolences

Curtis Jay "Curt" Simmons passed away on Friday, April 4, 2014 at the age of 90. He was a native of Walters, OK. A long Time Baton Rouge resident and a recent resident of Hammond, La. Curtis was a veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served his country in WWll and the Korean war. Curt was a graduate of LSU and retired as the Director of LSU Graphic Services. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Curtis is survived by his wife of 28 years, Audrey M. Simmons; son, Michael Jay Simmons and wife Donis; daughter, Nannette Simmons DeBuhr: stepchildren, Gary Grest, Dana Grest Sartin, Kevin Grest, and Eric Grest and wife Ronda; Grandchildren, Aaron Simmons, Sarah Simmons McRae, Zachary Debuhr, Olivia Debuhr; Grandchildren, Peggy Jo and Hazel Maude Simmons; Step Grandchildren, Logan Ortlieb, Stephen, Christopher, Jonathan and Nicholas Grest, Haylee Fannanly, Joshua Sartin, Summer Grest, Bria Richardson, Ryan, Dylan, Laura, Kyle and Amy Grest; Step Great-Grandchildren, Allee and Anna Kate Richardson, Victoria, Ava and Owen Sartin, Maddox, Grahym, Hayden and Liam Fannaly, Bowen Floyd and Collan Grest. Curt is preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Louise Hebert Simmons, parents Robert and Charity Simmons; Five sisters and four brothers: and step son David Grest. Visitation is at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge LA. Tuesday April 8th 2014 from 5 pm till 8 pm. Visiting will resume on Wednesday, April 9th 2014 from 10 am until services of Christian burial at 11 am at Resthaven Funeral Home. Father Mike Collins will officiate.
