Albert Dennis Raia passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014 in Baton Rouge. Albert was full of life, made people laugh wherever he went, and had a nickname for everyone. Albert lit up a room with his impeccable sense of humor and his big heart, and truly lived his life to the fullest. Albert was a pharmacist by profession and did his best to help everyone he came in contact with no matter where he was. Albert loved LSU football, tailgating and cooking jambalaya for the LSU games. He was passionate about Civil War history and was an avid hunter. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Raia and Katherine Canezaro Raia, and stepfather Sam Rotolo. He is survived by his loving wife Lori Caruso Raia, mother and father in law Ninfa and Daniel Caruso, beloved dog Lucy Lou. Survived by daughter Katherine Angelle Raia, son Albert John Raia and wife Jessica Katzer Raia, and two grandchildren, Lake Lee Raia and William John Raia. He is also survived by numerous cousins in the Rockford, Illinois area. Visitation will be held at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 3625 Highway 75, St. Gabriel, Louisiana on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 9am until 12:00 noon. Funeral Mass will be held at 12:00 noon with interment to follow in St. Gabriel Cemetery under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Albert John Raia, Mike Crowell, Tony Arbisi, Derek McCoy, Lenny Treanor, Raymond Kobetz, Mike Soto, Lionel Sims, Brian Schulte and Mike Montalbano.
