Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2014, at Community Chapel Church of God In Christ in Opelousas for Mr. Joseph Smith, 84, who passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at his residence. Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Cemetery in Grand Coteau. Rev. Frank L. Ford will be officiating the services. Mr. Smith is survived by three sons, Charles Richard (Anna) and Michael Smith (Suzanne), both of Opelousas, and Glen Smith of Lewisburg; three daughters, Linda Smith (Charles Anderson) of Lewisburg, Shelia Thibodeaux (John) of Church Point and Carla Smith of Bellevue; one brother, Robert Bailon of Crockett, Texas; four sisters, Sylvia Minnix and Willie Mae Steward (George), both of Tyler, Texas, Lou Wilda Freeland of Cincinnati, OH, and Mary Ann Lazard (William) of Opelousas; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lou Smith; his parents, Louis (Lucy Grice) Smith; one brother; and one sister. Visitation will be observed on Saturday, June 14, 2014, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Community Chapel Church of God In Christ. Words of condolences may be expressed at fordandjosephfh.com.
