Ernestine M. Forbes passed away peacefully at home in the presence of her loving family and friends at 9:30 PM, Wednesday, June 25, 2014. She was born December 14, 1934 in Birmingham, AL, and moved to the Baton Rouge area in the early 1940s. Ernestine graduated from Central High School, attended Business College and worked many years with and retired from the LA Dept. of Public Safety. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James R. Forbes; son and daughter in law, Stanley and Ramona Forbes; two grandsons, Kyle and Chase Forbes, all of Watson; and her beloved sister, Jacqueline Hood of Baton Rouge. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ernest A. and LaRue B. Menck; and brother, Robert A. Menck, all of Baton Rouge. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Sunday, June 29, 2014, from 5 PM until 8 PM and will resume Monday, June 30, 2014, from 10 AM until funeral service at 12 PM. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Kyle and Chase Forbes, Frankie Polito, Edward Hood, Jr, Otha Benton, and Anthony Sansone. Honorary pallbearers will be James R. Edmonson and Charles Crenshaw. The family would like to thank Hospice of Baton Rouge especially Cathy, Felicia, and her nursing aids. Memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge.
