Exactly 1 week after the passing of her loving husband of over 70 years, Ouida Mae Lockwood Swenson left this earth on July 1, 2014 to be reunited with her soul mate, Wayne D. Swenson, Sr. "Mimi", 88 years old, peacefully passed away in her home. Born of William Scott and Molly Trahan Lockwood in Baton Rouge, she graduated from Istrouma High School. Marrying the love of her life, Wayne, they embarked on their life's journey where she proved her courage, inner strength, and devotion to family. They were a strong team working hard together to raise a family, establish businesses and generously give back to the Baton Rouge Community. Over the years, Ouida volunteered her time to many organizations including the Baton Rouge Eye Bank Auxiliary, the United Commercial Travelers of America Council No. 499, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Sigma Chi Mothers' Club, and the St. Aloysius Altar Society. She took great pride in creating a beautiful home and hosting many wonderful occasions for family, friends and charity. She was an avid reader of romance and western novels, was a gifted crocheter, and loved Friday night card games. She absolutely cherished and protected her family and was revered as a tower of strength. She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne; her parents; her daughter Evelyn Ann Swenson, her brothers Gilbert Lockwood, Lee Lockwood, Roger Lockwood, and Harold Lockwood; and her sisters Vergie Lee Lockwood, Estelle Lockwood Wendt, and Dottie Wendt Richard. She is survived by her sons Wayne Swenson, Jr. (Sondra), Kenneth "Ken" Swenson, Sr. (Erin) and her daughter Cynthia "Candy" Swenson Lousteau (Bert III); his 11 grandchildren Barry Stringer (Melissa), Shoni Swenson Tucker (Eric), Shelby Swenson Helms (Mike), Sheri Swenson, Molly Malone (James), Kenneth "Kenney" Swenson, Jr., Scott Swenson, Bert Lousteau, IV (Amy), Carly Lousteau (Stacy), Blair Ouida Lousteau, and Lauren Lousteau Sternfels (Colby); 7 great grandchildren, Holden Tucker, Caitlin Tucker, Maddie Helms, Presley Helms, Addison Lousteau, Andrew Wayne Lousteau, Mackenzie Howell, and Harper Sternfels.
