A resident of Cedar Park, TX, since 1995 and former longtime resident of Baton Rouge, Bill Gunter died in Tomball, TX, on Thursday, July 10, 2014. He was 87 and a native of Brandford, FL. At the age of 15, he joined the U.S. Navy and was a decorated veteran of World War II. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Friday, July 25, 2014, from 10 am until religious services in the chapel at 1 pm. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lillian Favaron Gunter; two daughters, Patricia Landry and Debra Gunter Eason and husband Clark; son, Harold Whittington and wife Linda; niece, Treena Leonard; eight grandchildren, Shane Doughty, Nicole Decossas, Tara Papenhausen, Tabitha Smith, Julie and Ian Whittington, John and Tasha Landry; and five great-grandchildren, MacKenzie, Kamryn, Liesel, Logan and Amelia. Bill was preceded in death by his father, Louis LeRoy Gunter; mother, Jewell Slaughter Gunter; sister, Lois Gunter Markham; and brother, Leon Gunter. Pallbearers will be Clark Eason, Shane Doughty, Eric Decossas, Troy Favaron, Blaize Marino and Kenny Carr. Honorary pallbearers will be Barry and Michael Favaron.
