Raymond Williams, longtime resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014 at The Butterfly Wing of Baton Rouge General Medical Center. He was born on July 5, 1924 in Newark, Delaware. Raymond served during WWII as a Sergeant in the US Army Air Force. During his service, he worked as a Radio Operator, and studied cryptography. After his discharge from the military, Raymond met the love of his life, Wilma, in Baton Rouge. They were married in Lincoln, Nebraska on her birthday in 1945. Raymond worked for Union Tank Car Company in Baton Rouge as a Supervisor, and retired after 37 years. He enjoyed watching football and baseball, and he loved children, especially his own grandchildren and great grandchildren. Raymond was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 37 years, Wilma Dee Johnson Williams; mother, Lillie Mae Williams Taylor; mother-in-law, Ila Hamilton Johnson; sister, Alice Williams Stoops; aunts, Jennie "Nen" Williams, who raised Raymond, and Sarah Williams Musser; and uncle, Jack Williams. He will be dearly missed by his children, Kenneth R. Williams and wife Elizabeth L. Williams, Deidra Ann Williams Frazier and husband Michael K. Frazier, and Kevin Earl Williams; grandchildren, David Lansing Frazier and wife Nita Frazier, Heather Frazier Blanchard and husband Brian Blanchard, Kaley Frazier Benson and husband Dr. Brian Benson, Jaken K. Frazier, Kristen Frazier Armond and husband Sean Armond, Katherine Williams Lee and husband Michael Lee, and Brett H. Williams; great grandchildren, Amanda, Sarah, Tyler, Narelle, Danison, Eva Grace, Samuel Luke, Amelia, Laura, Luke Raymond, Nathan Michael, Austin Michael, and Zachary Dean; and his dear cousin, Alfred Musser and wife Alice. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Monday, July 28, 2014 from 10:00 am until the funeral service begins at 2:00 pm. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
