Flora Greer, 88, died Monday, July 28 at Flannery Oaks Nursing Home. Flora was born Dec. 29, 1925, in Pensacola to the late John A. McDonald and Mary Clayton McDonald. Flora graduated from Tate High School and attended Spring Hill College nursing program until she wed W.L. Greer on July 1, 1944. She resided in Baton Rouge 68 years. Flora worked for Dr. Roy Rabalais, Dr. James Lorio and Drs. I. Ashton Robbins and O. M. Thompson until her retirement. Flora enjoyed gardening, antiquing and the roads less traveled. Flora is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John A. McDonald; sister Elsie M. Dawson and her spouse W.L. Greer, Sr. Survivors are daughters Suzanne Olexy (Ron) of Flowood, MS, and Cynthia E. Greer of Baton Rouge, sons W. A. (Bubba) Greer, M.D. (Peggy) of Ringgold, GA and William Lee Greer Jr. of Houston, grandchildren Stacie Sharp, Ashley Barlow, Libby Brashier, Jeremy Olexy, Pearson Greer, Lydia Foreman, Shawn Johns, Josiah Greer, Samuel Greer and Erica Greer. Flora had 15 great grandchildren. Services will be at 2:00 pm on Wed., July 30 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home on Florida Blvd., with burial at Carpenter's Chapel Cemetery in Galvez.
