A lifelong resident of Batchelor, La., he passed away Friday July 25, 2014, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. He was 78 and a U.S. Army veteran. Visitation will be held at Old St. Mark Baptist Church located on Old State Road in Batchelor on Friday, Aug. 1, from 10 a.m. until religious service at noon conducted by the Rev. Davis. Interment in the church cemetery. Survived by a very devoted friend, Elaine Simon; five sons, Robert Thornton, Eric Sterling, Christopher Sterling, Paul Simon and Brandon Simon; two sisters, Eva Mae Sterling and Clara Collins; a brother, Prime Sterling; four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Professional services entrusted to A. Wesley's Funeral Home, Maringouin.
