Patricia Hendry "Pat" Jacob died Saturday August 2, 2014, at home at the age of 87 following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. Pat was a native of Amite and a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. She held a few receptionist/clerical jobs throughout her early years, but her main role was her favorite one, that of wife and mother. Pat will always be remembered by her kids as a mother who gave her whole heart, all of her time, and all of her devotion to her family. Preceding her illness, she selflessly cared for her sick husband, Jake, for 25 years. Pat was the very definition of a loving wife, mother and grandmother, delighting in her family, meeting their needs, rejoicing in their accomplishments, cooking delicious meals, baking scrumptious cakes, and creating deep family traditions. Pat loved babies and children, and her cat "Biscuit." She enjoyed feeding and watching birds through her windows. She loved to read, play cards, watch TV, and work puzzles. She cherished the years of family camping trips at Money Hill Plantation and The Great Smoky Mountains. She adored visits and phone calls from her siblings and their spouses. Visitation will be at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Avenue on Tuesday August 5, 2014 from 9am to 10:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30am.
