John R. "J.R." Passman Sr., 86, a native of Franklinton and a resident of Jackson for more than 40 years, died at 6:25 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Franklinton. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and retired as a captain from the Louisiana Department of Corrections, working at the Feliciana Forensic Facility. He is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Johnny and Nancy Passman, of Franklinton, Robin Passman, of Gulfport, Miss., and Keith and Cindi Wood, of St. Francisville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Mark Bradley, of Zachary, and Kathy and James Wade, of Clinton; a brother and sister-in-law, Holyne and Geraldine Passman, of Franklinton; grandchildren and their spouses, John Robert III and Lucy Passman, Melissa Passman, Steven Passman, Kaylan, Kimberly, Matthew and Marcus Wood, Kenny and Natasha Johnson, Kristen Johnson and Kimby Mullett; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Sherwood Passman; parents, Areilous and Luby Penny Passman; sister, Ruth Schilling; niece, Patsy Schilling; and nephew, Edwin "Buddy" Schilling. Visitation at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton on Thursday, March 12, from 10 a.m. until funeral service at 4 p.m. in the chapel, officiated by the Rev. Denny Brumfield and Ben Morgan.
