Clyde retired from BellSouth with 37 years of service. He was 86, born Oct. 9, 1923, a native of Baton Rouge. He passed away Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at his home in Denham Springs. Clyde was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1941-1945 and saw action on Guadalcanal and Tarawa. He was a member of the American Legion post in Denham Springs. Clyde is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruby Lee Bryant Britt; children, Donna Britt Knapps and husband Gerald Knapps, Clyde A. Britt Jr. and wife Sharon Rivett Britt, and Janet Britt Duchamp and husband Dean J. Duchamp; his very special cat, Boots; grandchildren, Jeff Maggio, Heather Britt Berot, Derek Britt, Chris Maggio, Heath Britt, Dustin Parrino and Cory Parrino; and 10 great-grandchildren. Clyde was preceded in death by his father, Willie Elie Britt Sr.; mother, Willie Edna Britt; brother, W.E. Britt Jr.; and sister, Charlene Britt Valie. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home 9595 Florida Blvd., Sunday, Oct. 3, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting continues at the funeral home Monday, Oct. 4, from 11 a.m. until service at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Tim Richardson. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Jeff Maggio, Chris Maggio, Heath Britt, Derek Britt, Dustin Parrino, Cory Parrino, Will Berot and Hunter Harris. A special thanks to his doctors, Todd Cooley and Andrew Reese. Special thanks also to his niece, Beth Denison, home health nurse, Allison, his caregiver, Amanda, and Tangela with Amedisys Hospice.
