Gertrude Duhe Millet passed away Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, in Vacherie. She was 83 and the assistant postmaster in Destrehan for 20 years. She was a Eucharistic minister for many years and ministered to the sick and those shut in. She also was a member of the Ladies Altar Society and a recipient of the St. Louis Medal. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Madere and husband Dave and Marilyn Jacob and husband Jake; a son, Clarence "Bub" Millet and wife Michele; four sisters, Electa Copponex, Elva Gagliano, Julia Sanchez and Betty Oswald; a brother, Milton Duhe; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Duhe and Elia St. Pierre; six brothers, Norman, Kenneth, Kramer, Allen, Lester and Claude Duhe; and three sisters, Odelia Louque, Doris Kollman and Alice Copponex. Visitation will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan on Friday, Dec. 31, from 10 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon from the church with Monsignor Harry Bugler, celebrant.
