A resident and native of Brusly, he passed away Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at home. He was 84 and a lifelong resident of Brusly. He was of Acadian descent and the seventh generation of his family to reside in West Baton Rouge Parish. He proudly served his country during World War II as a soldier in Guam and the Philippines. Later, he attended Texas A&M University. In 1950, he married the love of his life, Rosemary Altazan, who was holding his hand as he took his last breath over 60 years later. He retired from Westside Materials Inc. with 40 years service. Visiting at Wilbert Funeral Home, Port Allen, on Friday, April 1, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with rosary recited at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 3, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Brusly, at 11 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Matt Dupre. Interment in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery, Brusly. In addition to his wife of 60 years, he is survived by a sister, Catherine Hebert Cannon, St. Amant; three daughters and son-in-law, Alice Hebert Husser and Nancy A. Hebert, Brusly, and Roselyn "Rosie" Hebert Kling and husband Michael, Gonzales; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Wilfred Jr. "Billy" Hebert, Baton Rouge, and Roger Hebert and wife Sonja Jenkins Hebert, St. Amant; nine grandchildren and spouses, Wendell Husser Jr., Christina Husser Carr and husband Stephen, Miranda Hebert, Joshua Sims, Angela Kling Bourque and husband Bryan, Justin Kling and wife Dondra Landry Kling, Jason Kling and wife Erin Huguenel Kling, Andrew Hebert and Chase Hebert; nine great-grandchildren, Wendell "Dell" Husser III, Gage Marcotte, Brailey McCall Bourque, Sammy Reed Bourque, Adilyn "Addy" Kling, Stephen "Trey" Carr III, Johnathan Hebert, Julia Rose Hebert and Samantha Gayle Hebert. He was an avid hunter and charter member of the Brusly Hunting Club. He helped organize the Brusly Volunteer Fire Department and was a charter member of Westside Moose Lodge 2007. He was a craftsman and loved rabbit, squirrel, deer, duck and turkey hunting. He liked cooking at his camp and spending time with friends and family. Preceded in death by his parents, Robert Hebert Sr. and Effie Tullier Hebert; two sisters, Ann Mary Hebert Martin and Verna Lee Hebert Altazan; brother, Robert Hebert, Jr., and son-in-law, Wendell Husser Sr. Pallbearers will be his six grandsons.
