James "Jim" William Nation, age 78, of Rock Spring, Ga., went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011. He was born in Chickamauga, Ga., to the late William Burl and Nora Broome Nation. Jim was retired from the transportation industry. He was a woodworking craftsman, auto mechanic and a multi-instrumentalist musician who loved bluegrass music. He was a Mason for 55 years. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Brian Broussard, who was of Denham Springs. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Shaver Nation, of Chickamauga; son and daughter-in-law, the Rev. Chuck and Susan Nation, of Murrayville, Ga.; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and John Sanford, of Denham Springs; grandchildren, James and Sarah Nation, of Woodstock, Ga., Elizabeth and Curtis Whitehead, of Decatur, Ga., John Nation, of Gainesville, Ga., April, Paula and Thomas Broussard, of Denham Springs; great-grandchild, Ikey; brother, Alvin Nation, of Chickamauga; aunt, Nellie Broome Parrish; mother-in-law, Eretta Shaver; and several nieces and nephews. The family received friends at Wilson Funeral Home, Chickamauga, Ga., Thursday, Nov. 17, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home Friday morning until the funeral service at 2 p.m., with Dr. Todd Gaddis officiating.
