Rosie Lee Washington Tapps, 92, of Baton Rouge, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, in her home. She was born on June 8,1919, in Clinton. She was married to the late Zack Tapps for 45 years. To this union 11 children were born. In 1947, Rosie Lee and her family relocated to Baton Rouge and joined True Light Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until her death. Rosie Lee found favor with God and considered it an honor to work in the home to raise her children. Rosie is survived by her children: Carl Tapps and wife Mildred, of Compton, Calif., Mary Tapps, of Aurora, Colo., James Tapps and wife Lillie, Shirley Tapps, Barbara Netters, all of Baton Rouge, Gladys Bets and husband Eugene, of Carson, Calif., Dorothy Shaw and husband David, of Inglewood, Calif., Beatrice Self and husband Johnny, of Fort Worth, Dianne Davis and husband Matthew, of Maryville, Tenn., Raymond Tapps and wife Gayle, of Cypress, Texas, Pamela Jackson, of Port Allen; sister, Ella Tapps, of Denver; sister-in-law, Mary Tapps, of Willingboro, N.J.; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Rosie was preceded in death by her husband, Zack Tapps; adopted daughter, Gloria Mae Daniels; stepson, Danny Tapps; grandson, Dwan Shaw; son-in-law, Malcolm Jackson, mother, father, one sister and eight brothers. Visitation at True Light Baptist Church, 3836 North St., Baton Rouge, on Friday, Jan. 10, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral service at the church on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 11 a.m., officiated by the Rev. Dennis R. Hebert. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens, 3012 Blount Road, Baton Rouge. Arrangements with Carney-Mackey Funeral Home.
