A resident of Baton Rouge, La., he was born January 30, 1960 and passed away at 8:05 a.m Friday, September 28, 2012 at the age of 52 at the Baton Rouge General Mid-City. He is survived by his spouse, Janice Sims-Hughes; mother, Elvet Wright Hughes Walker; step-father, Louis Walker; and children, Latoya, Twyla and Eliska Burks, Montell Matthews, Jescynthia, Tedrick and Peter Chambers; 13 grandchildren. Brothers Larry (Christel) Hughes, Darryl Hughes, Ronald Marshall, Patrick (Racine) Green, all of Baton Rouge, La. Walter Lee, Sr. (Anita) Hughes of Port Allen, La., Donald Ray and Johnny Leo Hughes, Jr. of Los Angeles, Ca. and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was a member of Capitol Senior High School Class of 1979 and was a veteran of the United States Army (National Guard). Visitation at Saint James B.C., 1105 North 44th Street, on Friday October 5, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. and 8:00 - 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2012. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Saturday. (No Viewing after 11:00 a.m.) Services conducted by Pastor Robert Smith. Interment will be held at Thomas Chapel Cemetery (Thomas Road and Sunshine Rd.), Baker, La. MJR Friendly Services Funeral Home, Denham Springs, La., in charge.
