Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Lavite. Sister of the late Colonel (Ret.) Anthony Lavite, Jr. Sister-in-law of Geri Lavite. Grandmother of Catherine Hayden James, Vivian Elaine Vann and Garrett Gregory Vann. Mary "Honey" was born and raised in New Orleans in 1929 and was a resident of Mandeville since 1976. She spent her young adult years as a professional ballroom dancer and was part of the "D'Amico Dancers". They traveled throughout the United States and beyond to much acclaim. Mary loved the Blue Room at the Roosevelt Hotel and had many fond memories of dancing there. She married and moved to Cleveland, Mississippi and lived there for 10 years during which time her daughters were born. She lived in Pass Christian, Mississippi for 4 years before settling in Mandeville. Mary was an avid tennis player, playing three days each week well into her 80s. She loved to play bridge as often as possible and was an excellent player. Mary was a successful Real Estate agent until her retirement. She especially cherished the lifelong friendships she made through these associations. A lifelong sports fan, she enjoyed rooting for her beloved New Orleans Saints, the LSU Tigers and a host of professional and local tennis players. Mary bravely battled ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) since her diagnosis in August 2010. She and her family are so grateful for the love and support of the ALS Association LA/MS Chapter and the fellow patients and their loved ones whom they met along the journey.
