The Honorable Frank J. Polozola, 71, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2013. He was a native of Baton Rouge, LA. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 pm. Visitation will resume Wednesday morning at St. Joseph's Cathedral from 9:00 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Kay White; children Gregory D. Polozola, Sheri Polozola Vutera and husband Dana Vutera, Gordon D. Polozola and wife Tonya Polozola; and grandchildren Sean and Alana Polozola, Dustin, Rosie, and Bradley Vutera, and Evan and Sophia Polozola. He was preceded in death by his parents, Steve and Carolina Polozola, Sr. and brother Edward Polozola. Pallbearers will be his sons Gregory and Gordon, son-in-law Dana, and grandsons Dustin, Bradley, Sean and Evan. During Judge Polozola's almost 40 year tenure on the judicial bench, he served first as a U.S. Magistrate Judge and later, by Presidential appointment, as a United States District Judge and Chief Judge of the Middle District of Louisiana. He attended Louisiana State University on an athletic scholarship and was a catcher for the 1961 Southeastern Conference Champion baseball team. He was a graduate of the LSU Law School, where he later served for many years as an adjunct professor and was ultimately honored with induction into the LSU Law School Hall of Fame. He was a proud graduate of Catholic High School, where later served for 22 years on the Board of Directors. Judge Polozola was instrumental in establishing the Louisiana National Guard Youth Challenge Program and Job Challenge Program for at-risk youths. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic High School or The Hospice of Baton Rouge. His family wishes to thank his entire team of medical professionals.
