A resident of Zachary and native of Clinton, he died at 4 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. He was 69 and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force who attained the rank of sergeant. During his varied career, he worked for Shaw Construction and Ethyl Corp., and as a barber. Visiting will be at Richardson Funeral Home, Clinton, on Tuesday, March 12, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Religious service at New Hope Baptist Church, Slaughter, on Wednesday, March 13, at 11 a.m., conducted by Dr. James M. Turner. Interment in the church cemetery. Survived by his wife, Betty Robins Turner; sons, Tony A. Turner (Ursula), of Zachary, and Rodney L. Turner (Amika), of College Park, Ga.; sisters, Sadie Turner Johnson, of New Orleans, and Wardella Turner Helm, of Clinton; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Sr. and Idella Spears Turner; and four brothers. Arrangements with Richardson Funeral Home, Clinton, (225) 683-5222.
