God took you home to prove to us, He only takes the best." (Author unknown) Nick S. Bravata a native of Tickfaw and resident of Baton Rouge passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013 at the age of 80. Nick was retired from Sears, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and enjoyed riding motorcycles. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from 5pm until 9pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Our Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church in Tickfaw, La. from 9am until Mass of Christian burial at 10am. Entombment will follow in the church mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Ryan, Brandon, Nicholas, Brent, and Greg Bravata, and Van Baiamonte. Honorary pallbearers are Frank Bravata and Tommy Balfour. Survived by his wife of 56 years, Phine Bravata, three sons and daughters-in-law, Ross and Tina Bravata, Ricky and Robyn Bravata, and Randy and Lynette Bravata, six grandchildren, Rochelle, Ryan, Brandon, Alisha, Nicholas, and Brent Bravata, a sister, Ann Danna, and a brother, Frank Bravata. Preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Lena Bravata. Mr. Bravata was a member of the Usher Society at St. Louis King of France, Father Maynard Hurst Knights of Columbus #9016, and the American Legion Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to St. Joseph Hospice, Chronic Disease Fund Assistance Program or Mary Byrd Perkins Cancer Center.
