To the Irvin Family: You have my sincerest sympathy. Mr. Melvin was a wonderful man with a big heart. His charisma, his intelligence and his wise words of advice will always remain in my heart. Mr. Melvin touched a lot of lives in a positive way. He will truly be missed by many. Let God continue to guide your hearts through this time of sorrow. Missing someone is hard. Never being able to see them again is even harder. Recovering takes time but with God's grace and mercy, lean unto him for comfort and peace. My prayers will continuously be with your family.

Melvin's sense of humor, candor and encouragement will be missed. Even when he was ill, he found a way to be upbeat and in good spirits. The Lord blessed us all with one Melvin Irvin Jr. May he rest in peace.

It just hit me ... This man was brought into my life TWICE! All I can hear are the lyrics "what a man, what a man, what a mighty good man!". I will miss his voice, his advice, his gumbo, the apple martins and the random calls.
I am sorry I didn't come and see you as I promised Mel! I wanted to, I really did! I know you probably didn't do ALL you wanted to do, but you've done enough! Take your rest!! Know that NOBODY, I mean NOBODY will fill your shoes!

A great man traveled this way, and I thank God for the opportunity to have known him.
I was fortunate to have been a recipient of his wisdom and knowledge, as a leader in our church, our State Representative, our community leader, and a personal mentor. He will be greatly missed, but forever remembered. I will forever hold his voice in my head, saying MY GIRL as only he could say.

I can remember Tabatha and I going to LSU basketball games together with our fathers. He was always a pleasure to be around and a very kind man.
