Died peacefully on Thursday afternoon. Dear mother of Stefan and Bruno Friedel, sister of Robert Fordham, niece, cousin, aunt and friend to many others. Well known to performing arts & locally loved.

My first experience of performing with Jan was with Melbourne Theatre Company in Sondheim's Sweeney Todd, Jan was the best beggar woman I have ever seen. We also performed more modern opera pieces in which her strong soprano voice was pure, just like her soul. Jan was fun,she would get on the wrong plane,she had her share of crises but when required she was always there.
A major loss to theatre and music,and to me as a catch up coffee neighbour.
My heartfelt condolences to all those who mourn her passing,especially her boys.

My first MTC show was working with Jan and as long as I was in the business I kept seeing her performances. Professional and never less than lovely to me. R.I.P
