Loving tribute to my friend and mentor, Dame Beryl Beaurepaire, who recruited me as her Executive Secretary when she chaired the National Women's Advisory Council

Always remembered for her fearless advice, wisdom and warmth as she did so much instigating some of the first major studies on Aboriginal women, women with disabilities, migrant women and other key women's issues in Australia

Beryl was a truly remarkable women who inspired many generations of women and men. She was fearless in her convictions, brave in speaking up when she saw wrong doing and tireless in pursuing outcomes she felt would benefit the community. She was also a loyal and supportive friend with a wonderful sense of humour.

A true philanthropist with a genuine interest in those projects she supported, Beryl's philanthropy, as was the case with her late and much loved husband Ian, was always done without fanfare.

Beryl was a pioneer in so many areas of public life and deserves to be remembered for her enormous contribution to our nation. Her many, many friends, will miss her.
