Wayne R. Meyers(1938 - 2013)

Wayne R. Meyers, 74, of Amherst, died Saturday, March 9, 2013, at New Life Hospice Center in Lorain, following a long illness.
He was born May 14, 1938, in Elyria. Wayne was raised in Elyria and attended Elyria High School. He made his home in Amherst for the last 56 years.
He was employed as a tow motor operator at Ridge Tool in Elyria for 39 years before retiring in 2000.
Wayne was a social member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1662, American Legion Post 118, and Amherst Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 1442.
He enjoyed listening to music and playing cards. Wayne took great pride in being a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His greatest joy was being surrounded by his family and attending family events.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Louise Elizabeth Meyers (nee Syrowski); daughters and their husbands Theresa and Brian Howald of Lorain, Rose and Jeff Wright of Elyria, Deborah and Michael Burns of Ashland, Pamela and John Mamone of Youngstown, and Christine and James Klausing of Avon Lake; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother and his wife, Keith and Dolores Meyers of Amherst; and sisters Susan Shupack and her husband Al of Tulsa, Okla., and Mary Lou and her husband Al Kendeigh of Amherst.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Ronald and Alan; sister, Carol Shoulters; and by his parents, Ralph and Mary Louise Meyers (nee Sinegar).
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday at Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, South Amherst, with the Rev. Fr. Lawrence Martello officiating.
Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery, Amherst.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to New Life Hospice, 3500 Kolbe Rd., Lorain, OH 44053; or Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, 333 South Lake St., South Amherst, OH 44001.
