Dennis A. Beko, 70, of Amherst, died Friday, March 8, 2013, at the Cleveland Clinic, following a short illness.

He was born Jan. 22, 1943, in Lorain. Dennis was raised in South Amherst and graduated from South Amherst High School. He was a lifetime resident of the Amherst area.
Dennis was employed at Ford Motor Corporation in Lorain.
He was a member of Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in South Amherst. Dennis was a social member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1662, American Legion Post 118 and the Amherst Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 1442.
Dennis was an avid Cleveland Browns and Indians fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Dianne M. Beko (nee Hevener); son, Dennis A. Beko Jr. of Avon; daughter, Debbie Whitten of Amherst; grandchildren Kaitlyn, Alex, Cameron, and Madison; great-grandson, Kaleb; brother, Jerry Beko of Wellington; sister, Audrey DiSilvester and her husband Nick of Lorain; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Brad Whitten; and his parents, August and Irma Beko (nee Toth).
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, March 12 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Amherst, with the Rev. Fr. William Padavick officiating.
Burial was at St. Joseph Cemetery, Amherst.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Animal Protective League, 8303 Murray Ridge Rd., Elyria, OH 44035.
