Janet L. Chandler, 57, of Lorain, died June 27, 2013, at Mercy Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Janet was born April 14, 1956, in Amherst. She was raised in Amherst, lived most he life in central Ohio, and spent the last 10 years living in northern Ohio.
Janet graduated from Marion L. Steele High School in Amherst in 1973 and received a degree in English from Ohio State University.
Janet proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1982 to 1988, where she met her husband. She was certified in avionics instruments systems and also earned a certification as a marksman.
Janet worked as a freelance writer. She was an artist who loved craftwork, sewing, and antiquing at flea markets.
Survivors include her son, Christopher Hammond of Lorain; daughter, Hope Hammond of Lorain; sisters Dianne Harris and her husband Stephen of Grove City, Ohio, and Tina Stubbs of Millbrook, Ala.; and mother, Phyllis Chandler (nee Castle) of Paintsville, Ky.
Janet was preceded in death by her father, Ernest W. Chandler.
Services will be held privately by the family.
