Almira Jane Darnell Rogers, 76, wife of Boyd Rogers, died Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at the Hospice Care Center.
Born July 12, 1937 in Anderson County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee and Cora Elizabeth Ward Darnell.
Mrs. Rogers was a guard for Fayette County Schools, loved being a homemaker and had been employed for many years at Square D Company.
Mrs. Rogers was an avid collector, well known for her salt and pepper shakers and photographs, among other items.
Survivors other than her husband include two daughters, Debra Ann (Robert) Proffitt and Donna Jane Rogers; a son, Doug (Tammy) Rogers; six grandchildren, Robert "Bobby" Douglas Proffitt, Jonathan Kyle Proffitt, Christopher Allen Rogers, Deanna Jane Rogers, Adam C. Rogers, and Alyssa R. Rogers; two great grandchildren, Kamryn and Cash; a brother, Norva Lee Darnell; and two beloved nieces, Brenda Critchfield and family and Cora Beth Poirier and family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a nephew, Tony Lee; and her aunt and uncle, Raymond and Mahalia Gillis, who assisted with her upbringing after the death of her mother.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 22 at 12:30 p.m. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 21 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
