Betty Bates Green

Betty Bates Green, widow of Arthur J. Green, Sr. died Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
She was born on June 19, 1927, to the late Stephen White and Virginia Carlisle Bates.
She is survived by her three children: Johanna Green (Billy) Crawford, Virginia Carlisle Green (Bob) Sarver, and Arthur James Green, Jr. all of Lawrenceburg; one grandson Dr. Robert Allen (Dr. Mary) Sarver III; one great-grandson, Rylan Allen Sarver all of Spartanburg, S.C. She is also survived by one sister, Barbara Bates (Tommy) Catlett of Nicholasville.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Bates Johnson and Nancy Bates Black; and one brother, Stephen W. Bates, Jr. Mrs. Green is also survived by many nieces and nephews, who she loved and was quite proud.
Green was a 1945 graduate of Lawrenceburg City High School, where she was president of her class and the Beta Club. She was the co-owner and operator of the Green Realty Company, Green Insurance Co., and the development of Greenwood Subdivision. Green was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Lawrenceburg. She was a member of the Lillard Circle where she served as treasurer for many years. She also enjoyed helping with Wacky Wednesday at the First Christian Church. She also was a lifelong Democrat and a Kentucky Colonel; a former member of the Anderson County Humane Society and a former volunteer at Bluegrass Community Action with Rose Cunningham. She also enjoyed reading and studying the genealogy of the Bates and Carlisle families.
Green chose cremation and requested no services.
