A brave and courageous battle was fought by Cindy J. Bales Peterson, 41, Lawrenceburg, until Sept. 23 when her spirit went to be with the Lord.
She was at her home surrounded by her always loving husband, her two young sons and her devoted family.
She was born in Lexington. She was co-owner of Liberty Tax Service; past president of the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce, and a member of St. Simeon Skete Church. She was a 1990 graduate of Woodford County High School, and received her master's degree in equine nutrition from the University of Kentucky.
She is survived by her husband of 19 years, D. Brent Peterson; two sons, Samuel Wolfe Peterson and James Lucas Peterson, all of Lawrenceburg; her mother, Joan E. Fields Markwell, and her husband Denny; father and mother-in-law, E. Winford and Judy Peterson, Pembroke; brothers, Kris (Christina) Fields, Louisville, and Todd Markwell; sisters, Ashley Gentry, Lawrenceburg, and Tiffany Bales, Morehead; step grandparents, Burnice and Josephine Fields, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her father, James Samuel Bales, and her cousin, Melissa Fields.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 26 at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church with Father Seraphim Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 4-8 p.m. at Gash Memorial Chapel.
