Jewell Edwards Cunningham Sparrow, 85, died Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Mercer County, Ky., to the late David Ray and Mary Edwards Cunningham.
Sparrow was a retired research supervisor for the Department of Labor with Kentucky state government. She is a member of the First Baptist Church. Prior to moving back to Lawrenceburg she and her husband lived in Graefenburg for several years and were members of the Graefenburg Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School Superintendent, taught Sunday School for several different age groups, lead Bible study for shut-ins and at the Shelbyville Soup Kitchen.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles Hubert Sparrow; a daughter, Beulah Diane Larwood (Larry) of Independence, Ore.; a son, Charles Stephen Sparrow (Kay) of Lawrenceburg; eight grandchildren, Hubert William Larwood, Calvin Ray Larwood, Charles Christopher Sparrow, Joshua Shane Sparrow, Theresa Lee Sparrow, Jenny Arits, Jackie Artis, and Shanna Dews; and eight great-grandchildren.
Including her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Annelle Wing, and three brothers, Buford, Byford, and Wilda "Bill" Cunningham.
Funeral services were held Feb. 9 at Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Ehr officiating. Burial followed in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Warren Cunningham, Bud Gritton, Carroll Taylor, Wallace Thompson, Wayne Young, and Marion Stucker. Members of the New Hope Sunday School Class served as Honorary bearers.
Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
