Kenneth M. Cornish, 93, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Oaklawn Health and Rehabilitation Center in Middletown.
A native of Mercer County, Kenneth was born May 2, 1921 to the late Mattie Gritton and Leonard Sanford Cornish.
Kenneth was a graduate of Fairview School, served in the U. S. Army in the Pacific during WWII
, and was a driver for Greyhound Bus Lines where he met Sarah Carter. They married on January 26, 1952. After working for Central Uniform in Louisville, he and Sarah opened Redbud Camper Sales which they operated until their retirement in 1995. Following retirement, they enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and spending winters in Florida. Kenneth was a member of Sand Spring Baptist Church, Lawrenceburg, and Boaz Masonic Lodge #850, Louisville.
He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Carter Cornish, a sister Ruby Covert and a brother Earl Barnett, Jr., Harrodsburg.
Funeral services were Tuesday, May 27 Ritchie & Peach Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg, officiated by Dr. Mike Hamrick. Burial was at the Lawrenceburg Cemetery with military honors.
Masonic services were conducted Monday night.
Serving as casketbearers are nephews Mike Barnett, Kevin Burgin, Steve Burgin, Nathan Sangster, Nathanael Sangster, Eric Simpson and friends Mike Goad and Roy Hawthorne.
